Hi, I’m Bethany Knight. I’m a licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Primal Blueprint Health Coach (more on that later). A long time ago, on another coast, I used to get paid to hike. That’s right, my paycheck was amazing views and epic sunsets. Life was good. Then I hit my quarter-life crisis and noticed my body no longer could keep up with my particular lifestyle of binge-eating fast food and Netflix with the occasional afternoon hike. The saying, “You can’t out run a bad diet,” definitely rang true in my life. No matter how many hikes I went on my waistline stayed the same and eventually, expanded to unfamiliar limits. I felt awful! In fact, at that point in my life feeling comfortable in my skin was an unobtainable dream.
Eventually, my time on the mountain came to an end with a forced furlough nationwide. It was during this time that I re-evaluated my life’s direction. So, I moved to Charleston, SC, with a friend and took personality tests (legitimate ones, not the kind you see on Facebook) and strength tests. Turns out, I was in the wrong profession! Healthcare is where my heart truly longed to be. I researched all the careers that did not have to do with needles and blood (gross). Having struggled with chronic low back pain and sciatica, I gained compassion for those who also struggled with chronic pain. Thus, massage therapy was the career for me! I was able to learn how the body moves, functions and how to remove aches and pains from the body. It was, and is, so fulfilling! I have since been certified in Active Release Technique (lower extremities); Ace Massage Cupping, Kinesio-taping, Clinical massage and AromaTouch Technique.
While in school, I began researching more holistic options for healing. My husband, who is a nurse, was already living a holistic lifestyle before we met. He taught me a lot on a whole food approach to wellness. Through my own personal experience and research on pain, I noticed my diet was directly connected with my symptoms. I then began to apply what I learned. Fueling my body with a whole foods diet and adding intentional movement every day gave my body the opportunity of healing itself.
Enter in the Primal Blueprint. Primal Blueprint aligned with my own personal lifestyle and offered a ton of knowledge on new research in the health field. I learned how to teach "Food as Medicine" and found it is the perfect accompaniment to my massage practice.The freedom I experienced was substantial. My life is no longer slowed down by pain, or lack of energy. By taking simple steps my health, and mindset, has been forever changed.
